black linen-and-cotton honeycomb Dumont mao-collar jacket
- Order number: 1191000034_44.48
The jackets Alberto Santos Dumont used to wear inspired Patric Hollington to design this jacket an dozen years ago. This Brazilian pilot who received many decorations for his discoveries was short-sized. He consequently wore suits which jackets made his silhouette look slender. There is a picture of him on the self of our fitting room at 9, rue Racine: come and check it!
As this jackets goes down to the waist only, it ressembles a spencer with a slightly plunging cut and a zipper.
Would you be short or tall, this jacket is a right pick if you are looking for a simple, original design. In order to stick with the refined aesthetics of the hollington brand, it holds only two chest pockets. But no worries: inside are four zipped pockets to fit all of your essentials.
Its collar, now called ‘mao collar’ to make it standard, is actually an ‘officer’ collar. Is it high and lined with a narrow piece of canvas all around the neck.
It will never feel too tight as it includes a back pleat that allows a great freedom of movement in any situation.
The jacket shown here is cut in a black linen-and-cotton honeycomb. Cotton honeycomb is known for the ‘thirsty’ qualities of its structure. It is a prime material for elegant home textiles. Patric Hollington, who appreciates surface effects so much, hijacked the fabric by adding linen to it. This blend of textures of the same tint is the key to the chic depth of the colour, as each material reflects light in a different way. The plain red / the plain black is both matt and glossy. Linen also makes the cloth is bit stiffer for a more urban look.
