Patric Hollington was very passionate about quilting. He had been working for a long time on the development of a sporty and chic jacket to wear in winter over a sweater or shirt.
To make this new jacket, he developed a woolen serge in which a tartan pattern called Green MacLeod is woven, not printed. It is produced in the Veneto, Italy, as Italians love to reinterpret Scottish fabrics giving them a much less rustic feel. Because the wool is twill, its weft is diagonal and the checks appear slightly different. The stripe which composes them is well marked, which adds to the character of this fabric with a soft touch and an elegant fitting.
The padding of this new Naipaul is made in the north of France with a swelling and very light fleece.
Here is the big novelty of the season: the quilted Naipaul jacket! Patric Hollington has chosen to revisit the Naipaul, an iconic jacket from his brand, by adding a zip. He had been working for a long time on the development of a quilted jacket to wear in winter over a sweater or shirt.
Its collar, now called a “mandarin collar” for standardization reasons, is actually an officer collar, a stand-up collar to which a narrow strip of fabric is added around the neckline.
From a practical point of view, it has three patch pockets: they are applied on the outside and secured by a seam. At hollington, this seam is double and symmetrical to assert a workwear signature even when the fabric is not quite a work canvas.
Inside, you can find two pen pockets and four zipped pockets to slip your essentials in.
The cut is straight, with two slits on the sides. It can be worn over a shirt, for a dressy style, or over a sweater for more relaxed atmospheres. In both cases, you will never feel constricted: a back pleat allows great freedom of movement in any situation.
The result is a warm and light jacket, ideal for winter.
