The fabric in which this very beautiful nightgown is cut is a supple and finely ribbed flannel. Its fluffy, extremely soft touch is obtained by grinding the fabric: after manufacture, an emery cylinder “scratches” the surface on both sides to lift the fibres. The technic used to weave this caressing fabric softens its burgundy colour. For great winter comfort, here is an enveloping nightgown, which will allow you to spend your winter evenings in style.
About ten years ago, Patric Hollington developed this model to expand the range of lazy wear from the hollington collections. At the time, he was looking to design a nightgown and was inspired by “shalwar kameez", the traditional unisex dress from South Asia. “Shalwar” refers to lose pants; the "kameez" is the shirt, as long as a tunic.
In the beginning, we did sell it as a nightgown that is very comfortable to wear and to touch. But over time, some of you divert its use, or rather goit back to it.
Women make it their own and wear it like a tunic dress, accessorizing. it with jewellery or a belt; men wear it like ... a kamiz, that is, over trousers and with a waistcoat. This very trendy style gives them an oriental elegance, fine and delicate.
The bottom of the shirt is rounded and slit on the sides. To solidify these openings, a ‘swallow’ is placed there. This pretty name stands for the isosceles triangles of fabric that prevents tearing and appeals to fans of neat details.
For both practicality and aesthetics, Patric Hollington designed two large patch pockets on the front. At the hips, they are cut at an angle so you can immerse your whole hand.
Very long – it goes below the knee – and wide cut, our Kameez has really been designed to be worn when sleeping. If you want to wear it as a tunic, choose a size below your usual shirt size! If you hesitate, refer to the size guide located at the top of the product sheet: the detailed measurements are indicated there.
