the fabric

The 20-pocket waistcoat pictured here is cut from stretch indigo denim. This denim adds a touch of elastane to cotton to increase wearing comfort. The weft is black, which reinforces the depth of the indigo colour. It is washed after manufacture, delicately enough for its colour to remain very intense and acquire a patina with use. Neither too heavy nor too thin, it is a canvas that is suitable for all circumstances: in the city or in the countryside, at work or during your leisure time.

Designed forty years ago on the corner of a tablecloth at the Balzar brasserie, this waistcoat kept evolving ever since. The initial idea was for it to usefully replace a bag, so it holds 18 outside pockets, including five pen pockets on the chest and two buttoned pockets on the backside.
