This Deauville shirt is cut from a high-quality red linen developed by Italian linen specialists. The fabric is lightweight and breathable, thanks to its open weave, and creases naturally with elegance. Its warm, slightly orange-toned red is inspired by the sun-drenched landscapes of Provence, echoing the hues found in the work of Nicolas de Staël.
The Deauville shirt first appeared at hollington in spring 2012. Designed to offer the comfort of a polo shirt while maintaining the style of our signature shirts, it was such a success that no season since has gone without it.
Its straight cut features a back slightly longer than the front – just like a polo. And similarly, it can be worn over the trousers, untucked, allowing the air to flow freely and keep you cool. The hem is rounded and slit at the sides. Combined with our signature ease pleat at the back, this cut offers a perfect drape, whatever movements your unpredictable daily life might demand.
The mao collar, slightly taller than the traditional version, can be fully buttoned – though many of you prefer a more relaxed look. At hollington, the button placket always ends at mid-body, so the shirt must be pulled over the head. A distinctive detail, certainly, but one that ensures, when seated, no fabric is pulled tight across the opening – sparing you from showing a midsection you'd rather keep to yourself.
This summer design features a carefully tailored 2/3 sleeve: generous in volume, it covers the elbow in a soft curve. If you’re not fond of this part of your anatomy, thank it – otherwise, just roll up the sleeves!
Last but not least, the two chest pockets: a highly practical feature for anyone who likes to keep a pen, phone, handkerchief, silk square, or other essentials close at hand.
