To create this brand new version of the Naipaul jacket, we developed a wool twill in which a Green MacLeod tartan is woven (not printed). Clan MacLeod is a Scottish clan from the Isle of Skye. The famous pattern that distinguishes it is a large blue and dark green check on which red and yellow fine stripes stand out. Here, they are very marked to emphasize the character of the pattern. As the wool is twilled, its weave is diagonal and the checks appear slightly different from the original tartan. Our wool canvas is produced in Veneto - the Italians love to reinterpret Scottish fabrics giving them a much softer hand and impeccable drape. It’s a mix that saves you from choosing between pattern and comfort.
Here is the reissue of the season: the quilted Naipaul jacket! Patric Hollington one day decided to revisit the Naipaul, an iconic hollington jacket, by adding a zip. He had been working for a long time on developing a casual, dressy jacket to wear over a sweater or shirt.
Its collar, today called “mao” for standardization reasons, is in reality an officer collar, a high collar to which a narrow band of fabric is added around the neckline.
From a practical point of view, it has three patch pockets: they are applied to the outside and fixed with a seam. By hollington, this seam is double and symmetrical to assert a workwear signature even when the fabric is not (at all) meant for work. Inside, you find two pen pockets and four zipped pockets to store your essentials.
The cut is straight, with two slits on the sides. It can be worn over a shirt for a dressy style or over a jumper for casual occasions. In both cases, you will never feel cramped: its back pleat allows great freedom of movement.
Patric Hollington was a big fan of quilting. He had been working on the development of a jacket that was both sporty and chic for winter for a long time. The padding of this jacket is made in the north of France with a very light, puffy fleece.
The result is a warm and light jacket, ideal for winter and mid-season.
